:: The Pioneering Spirit ::
The Queen once sent a messenger to the Seafarers and Adventurists' Club with an errand to identify one person who could
make an egg stand.
The messenger called a breakfast meeting where over a dozen famous
and not so famous Seafarers were seated around the log table.
The egg and the problem were passed around. None of them
succeeded.
Also sitting in the dining room was a simple stranger. He offered to
do it.
Amidst a lot of booing and jeering he came to the table, took the
egg, tapped one end of it to flatten and stood the egg.
This was the man the Queen commissioned on a voyage in search of
the fabled rich land. What followed is history. That stranger was
Columbus.
A pioneer, with a spirit of adventure, a will to do, and the ability
to do it. |
